Five most frequently asked questions to a magician

1. How long have you been doing magic? Did you also have a magic box?

I started out at the young age of 8 with a magic box and eventually attended an adult education course, where my serious interest in magic was awakened. Eventually I came into contact with professional magicians through the magic dealer Boretti in Neustadt an der Weinstraße. There was a big dealer convention, seminars and workshops for like-minded people at the Boretti Day. Gradually, I became more and more passionate about magic and it became an integral part of my life.

2. Can you make my husband disappear?

Incidentally, I get this question particularly often when I'm performing on cruise ships, usually towards the end of the trip. I don't know whether this is a coincidence or whether the couples just get on each other's nerves after two weeks in a confined space. I always reply: "Of course you can, but if you want it to look like an accident, it'll cost extra." If the husband is standing there shaking his head, I like to reply: "Oh, that's a coincidence, your husband wanted to know the same thing earlier." Incidentally, the idea goes back to Christoph Kuch, thank you for that (Kuch 2014).).

3. Can you predict the lottery numbers?

Now I have to put you off until my show. I might do just that in my next magic show. But see for yourself.

4. Do you actually have better chances with women as a magician?

Unfortunately, there are reasons why I am not allowed to go into more detail on this question.

5. What do you do in your real life?

Gegenfrage: Counter question: Which life is the right one? The last time a business economist asked me this question, I wasn't sure for a moment who had done more magic in their lives.

6. Which are the most famous magicians?

Today's best-known magicians are probably David Copperfield, David Blaine, Siegfried and Roy, Criss Angel and Lance Burton, who are particularly successful in Las Vegas. Penn & Teller are also extremely well known, partly due to their television show, Fool Us. In the 19th century, the escape artist Houdini and Hofzinser were magicians with a high profile. The magic tricks of that time have changed considerably, but many classics have survived to this day. Even the greatest magicians performed tricks such as the ring game or the cup game. Derren Brown is a very famous mentalist in the UK and has several full-evening shows with mind-blwoing stunts. Uri Geller is also a well-known magician who became famous for his spoon bending trick. However, he is very reluctant to call himself a magician.
